LIE OF THE WEEK
“The fear of God means that Christ is present in our corporate worship.”
Houses for God
Stephen, before being stoned to death said, “The Most High dwells not in temples made with hands.” (Acts 7:48) Of course, the world, that is the “church world,” hasn’t heeded this at all. They still go on making temples, sanctuaries, and houses for God! Why? Well, think about it.
It’s much more convenient if they can put God somewhere off in a house where He can stay alone and people can come to Him, maybe once or twice a year at Easter and Christmas, or perhaps even once a week on Sunday’s. But, He’s not wanted anywhere else. That’s the whole point.
Not in the social life; not in the business life, and even not in the home. He has no place there. So a building is made for Him, and it is called “The House of God,” and people go to “the house of God” to pay Him a visit and then, they just hope He stays there.
Oscar M. Baker (1898-1987)
